Welcome to our
firearms page. Below are some of the firearms typical of our sport.
Above are some
of the firearms typical of those used in our main match
competitions. Old style lever action original and reproductions of
Henry and Winchesters models 1866, 1873, 1892 and 1894 along with
Marlin model '94 all chambered in pistol calibre. Pistols used are
single action revolvers Colt and Remington original and repros, with
the famous Ruger single action models also very popular. Some
competitors may choose to use cap and ball, black powder revolvers
of the frontier period of the old west. Shotguns in Australian matches
are either double barrel hammered or hammerless models of 20 gauge or
larger.
We also have
special long range rifle matches. Again we use firearms typical of the
period of the old west. We have long range lever action events in
pistol and rifle calibre. With Winchester and Marlin rifles proving
very popular. Long range rifle calibre events are restricted to
classic calibres of the period, e.g. 30/30, 38/55, the legendary 45/70
and many other calibres available during the famous old west era. Long
range single shot rifle events are also conducted using legendary
firearms such the Springfield Trapdoor, Sharps "buffalo rifles",
Remington rolling blocks and many other period correct rifles.
